Yahoo answers…

So Yahoo and Unicef have teamed up and are asking us, the American public, what we can do to help reduce child poverty. They do this via celebrity talking heads. I started to write this long and involved statement about my beliefs and what I would do to fix the problem, but it quickly grew out of control and became something much too big for this blog.

Here are my feelings. I think it’s a joke that Yahoo and celebrities are asking what we can do to fight poverty. If the American people wanted to fight poverty it would be taken care of. Swedon, Finland, the Netherlands have virtual no poverty because they actually care about fixing it, and make sacrifices to ensure that people don’t have to live in those conditions.

If those people or companies really cared they could donate much larger sums of money than they already did. If this Government really cared about poverty they would update all their current formulas for computing poverty and start using accurate up to the date numbers, instead of the outdate ones they currently use.

If the American people actually cared about poverty they would demand that government do something, demand that government stop being a front for corporate interest, demand that government work more than 135 days a year, but we do not demand anything and subsequently we do not have a government that cares about its real citizens.
