Bill Simmons may be a god…

The man has claimed that he could step in and be better than 50% of the GMs in the NBA with no experience and only working two hours a week. I was always hesitant to agree with this. I mean there is a lot more to a gms job than just proposing trade ideas. But fuck it. In the past month this man has propose so many good trades, trades that would benefit both teams.

Yesterday was the clincher. All can be found here in his column. But the short of it is here…

Phoenix trades Shawn Marion, Leandro Barbosa, Marcus Banks and the rights to Atlanta's 2008 first-rounder to the Lakers for Kobe and Radmanovic.

Ok right now that is a butt fuckingly amazing deal. Nash, Kobe, Amare. That is fucking amore.

But it can get even better, Phoenix could then turn around and trade Amare for KG.

What?!?!?!?! Lil' John couldn't say it louder...WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?

Nash, Kobe, KG…OMFG!!! That should be illegal.

If that were to actually go down, Mike D’Antoni and Bill Simmons should be castrated. These men should not be allowed to have kids. That level of awesomeness should not be allowed to breed. It’s like Highlander, they can be only one!

If I were Kobe…

You do not want to get traded. Any team that he would go to would have to give up a boat load of players to satisfy the Lakers demand along with salary considerations. You have an option at the end of next year. Play the year, opt out of your contract, go to the trailblazers and play with Greg Oden for the rest of your career.

Update:
So yeah I was mistaken. His opt out clause it at the end of the 2008-09 season, which would mean he would have to play for two more years. Sooooooo, now this is what he should do…get traded, if it doesn’t work out then opt out after two years, then go sign with the Trailblazers and play the rest of your career with Greg Oden.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Ok I’m guilty. I said that I wasn’t going to see Pirates in the theater, and I did so anyway. So regardless of my sins, Pirates is a step up from Dead Man’s Chest, but still pales in comparison to the original Curse of the Black Pearl.

At World's End is way, way, way too long…90 minutes too long. The excruciatingly long running time makes the overly complicated plot completely incoherent that it becomes a futile process to actually try to follow along with the story. Not like much of the plot matter. Things happen and never develop, or are said that later have no importance. So why put forth the effort?

But this film still lacked the wit and cleverness of the first film. Yes it’s much better than the first one, there was at least an attempt and the old Jack Sparrow that we have come to know and love, but still not close enough. I wonder how the same writers came up with that first screen play in the first place.

But alas for all the bad things about this film, the one good part of this film was the end battle scene which was one of the most dramatic sea battles ever filmed.

Bill Simmons is god…

From his pre-nba draft lottery article, which can be found here.

On the Philadelphia Sixers:
If Philly gets lucky tonight, I just hope Billy King commemorates the
occasion by immediately announcing a six-year, $50 million contract
extension for Shavlik Randolph.

On the Chicago Bulls:
If this spot comes up and Chicago's logo isn't in the No. 10 envelope,
it immediately becomes the most dramatic lottery moment of all-time.
Every Knicks fan would cease breathing for the rest of the lottery.
That's no exaggeration.

On the Portland Trailblazers:
(Note: Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I miss the Jail Blazers.
When's the next time we'll see a team feature a registered sex offender
who wasn't even one of the top three craziest guys on the team? They
made the 2006 Bengals look like a bunch of prep school kids egging
houses on Halloween.)

The Fountain

So I think I know what happened in this film, but I’m not sure. Not a good sign, but whatever. This film was fucking amazing looking. The last 20 minutes guaranteed this film two stars by itself. So the plot while convoluted was interesting and definitely held my attention throughout the entire run time.

If you have a good tv, just get it for the visuals alone.
