3:10 to Yuma…

I was really disappointed by this film. I watch westerns few and far between but when I do it’s always with great anticipation. And Yuma was no different. Sadly I wish I could have gotten on the 2:10 and been out of there an hour earlier. This is my clever attempt to say that Yuma, despite only a 2 hr running time, is too long.

Everything took way too long to develop. I liked what they were doing and was intrigued but it all, but got bored when they didn’t move onto the next thing. This is a shame because I really wanted to like this film. A definite renter when you’re wide awake.

The Lives of Others…

Interesting. That sums up The Lives of Others to a T. Taking place during early 80s Berlin where the Communist government rules all, as such the secret police spy on many of their citizens to ensure they are loyal to the party line. Seeing what it was like to actually live during that time was very eye opening. However as powerful as seeing all that is it didn’t make for an overly exciting story. Learn I did, wildly entertained I was not…good not great.

Perhaps if they focused on two other people that were being surveilled instead of just the one couple, to add a layer of suspense to which person(s) would make it through. Maybe one of those other people would more intriguing.

Should definitely be viewed, but once you see it there is no reason to watch it again.

Poolhall Junkies…

Its films like this that make me wish I played pool well. But I don’t so I’m watching movies about it. Poolhall Junkies is an amazing film, one of my favorites of all time…that is something I don’t think I’ve ever written on this blog before. The story is great, you feel for the characters, and Christopher Walken is the fucking man. Seeing him in this, then Balls of Fury brings a tear to my eye. There is no reason to write any more about this, just go see it!
