Shoot ‘Em Up…

This is what Hot Fuzz should have been. Over the top from the get go, this film is just completely ridiculous. And ridiculous is good for about the first 30 minutes, then it begins to drag. The action scenes are nice and all, some of the moments are actually pretty cool. But none of them are that memorable and after a while it all looks the same. But this film has two things going for it, Monica Belluci is hot (yet despite its R rating we see nothing) and Clive Owen is bad ass. Each of those facts alone warrants this film one star each. Wait for it on cable, and then forget it.

Fantasy Football Work League…

Here is my work league team (10 teams, I had the 3rd pick overall)...and the order I took them:

1) Larry Johnson, 4,292 total yards and 40 touchdowns over the past two seasons...screw the 400 carry effect or his shitty oline. L Train baby!
2) Willis McGahee, Best RB left on the board
3) Tom Brady, With that receiving core he is going to have a huge year.
4) Randy Moss, This is a gamble, hopefully he'll be healthy and productive, otherwise this will burn me.
5) Todd Heap, After Gates, he's the best TE in the league.
6) Clinton Portis, I couldn't pass him up here. Only a couple of years ago he was a top 10 back.
7) Jerricho Cotchery, Best receiver on the board according to yahoo, not 100% thrilled with this pick
8) Santana Moss, Wish this league included return yards.
9) Kevin Curtis, Why not?
10) Matt Hasselbeck, Can't believe that no one picked him to be their starting qb.
11) Chris Chambers, I regret this pick, he was best available...however after picking him I looked at his stats from last year...not good.
12) Warrick Dunn, thrilled that he was still around. Solid backup.
13) Seattle Defense, I was the last person to pick a defense. Seattle was the best available
14) Mike Nugent, I wanted Robbie Gould or Jason Elam, both went higher than I thought...So Nugent it is, he has been voted special teams captain this year :-)
15) Brian Leonard, ah yeah, classic insurance pick (although not for my team), in case Stephan Jackson gets injured I'm going to be smiling pretty big.

Oh noes a Madden Glitch…

So I'm encountering a madden glitch. Players are disappearing. Specifically undrafted/unsigned rookies are not going to free agency after the draft. But that's not the worst of it. Currently in my franchise there are no FBs, Kickers, or Punters. I've heard from other people that eventually it will get so bad that teams will not be able to fill out an entire roster, thus killing the franchise. Uh Oh.

Madden 08 Update…

So it had to happen at some point. I traded away McNabb. I ended my season and only had 6 million in cap room. I couldn't even sign my first round draft pick, fucker wanted 60 million over 6 years with a 14 million dollar signing bonus. I forgot how overrated #1 picks are in Madden.

So to make room for my other draft picks I traded away McNabb to Houston for DeMeco Ryans (MLB), Owen Daniels (TE), and a 1st Round Draft Pick. Then I moved Trotter for a rookie CB. Between both moves I was able to open up 16 million in cap space.

So i never ended up signing my top 4 draft picks (rounds 1 - 2), a shame i know, but none of them were very good and they commanded way to much money for backup roles.

So my new plan, which is really my old play that i forgot, is load up on draft picks, but trade away all the 1st and 2nd rounders for 3rd and 4ths. They are truly the best bang for your buck. And should none of them develop into stars you can just sign the impact guys off free agency. We'll see how that goes, that strat is several madden versions old and i never played more than 3 seasons with it...
