Redbelt…

Liked it a lot in the theater, had issues with the ending. Upon a second viewing on DVD my fondness for this film is beginning to lower. The pacing is slow at parts and I grow tiresome waiting for the good scenes to appear. But the last fight scene is fantastic. They still needed more resolution at the conclusion; it ends very abruptly, devoid of anything outcome to the lives of each character. Characters that we have really come to love and despise. It leaves you wanting more, too much more.

I love the Olympics…

I hope you all saw the Men’s 4X100M Freestyle Relay. It was the most exciting moment of the games so far. It had everything needed for great drama.

Bad Guys: The French, so arrogant that they proclaimed victory before the match.
Underdog: United States, I love an underdog story, and when it’s your home country it’s even better. To be fair it’s not like the US was that big of an underdog, but the announcers beforehand made it seem like they were swimming for silver.
An exciting start: Phelps grabbed the early lead and planted the seed that an upset might be possible
Dramatic twist: The US lost the lead by the time the anchors jumped into the pool
Incredible finish: Come from behind finish. Lezak chased down the Frenchmen and touched the wall before them by .1 seconds.

The entire time I was on the edge of my seat, heart rate going at a mile a minute. God I love the Olympics. The fact that is was live, made it 100% better.

to IMAX or not to IMAX

I have now seen The Dark Knight is both IMAX and Regular formats. Here is the breakdown.

Was it worth it? At my corporate ticket price, yes. But definitely not if I paid full price of $15.25
Was the film better? No, IMAX doesn’t add anything to the film (plot, storytelling, etc...)
Was the experience better? Most definitely, specifically the sound.
8.25 better? Not even close
If ticket prices were equal which one would you pick? IMAX
Most disappointing part of IMAX? Most of the time I didn’t even realize when they switch to the Imax footage.
