Last time I visited Shake Shack I was less than impressed. The meal was ok but expensive, and generally over hyped. However I didn’t get the main stay, the Shack Burger. I let my love for portabella steer me away from their namesake. Not this time.
Double Shack Burger ((Cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and Shacksauce)) ($7.10) + Fries ($2.65) + Fair Shake ((Vanilla shake featuring 100% certified organic Arabica Fair Trade coffee)) ($5.50) = $15.25
Double Shack Burger: It is what I thought it would be. Solid. Better than the Shack Stack ((Cheeseburger and a ‘Shroom Burger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce)) (which would be much better if they removed the cheese and just put a normal sautéed portobello on top, but I digress.) but still coming up short compared to the regional fare. Still pricey, but at least compared to Five Guys it tastes like higher quality ingredients. I just wish it didn’t hurt the wallet so much.
Fries: Fantastic. Crinkle cut, who the hell makes fantastic crinkle cut fries? Shake Shack!
Fair Shake: Holy Jesus, this was delicious. I’ve had coffee milk shakes before (using coffee ice cream), but this is in a different level. Probably because the quality of coffee used here is so much better than what I had in the past. This was the best part of the meal and why I will be going back.
